Visit to City Police Station - 2019

Students of Podar International Ratnagiri, Grades III to V visited the City Police Station on Saturday 4th January, 2020 to observe the role of police in contemporary society with changing trends of crime.

Students comprehended and acknowledge how the police department carries out the four major responsibilities of enforcing laws, preventing crimes, responding to emergencies and providing support services.

Students payed their gratitude to our Polite, Obedient, Loyal, Intelligence, Courageous and Encouraging police officers who risk their lives so that we may be safe in our houses.

Truly, become a police officer is largely about sacrifice.

With a motto, “To Protect and To Serve”, line for us every single day.

Indeed, ‘Blessed are the peace keepers, for they shall be called the children of God.’

Jumpstart Activity 'Pursuit of Happiness' - 2020

To immerse the students into the theme, activities were planned to surprise them and evolve their imagination.

The Jumpstart event for the theme ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’- Unwrap Life Philosophies from around the world was organized on 2nd January, 2020 at Podar International School, Ratnagiri.

Students immersed in the process of exploring themselves.

An Environment of ‘acceptance’ in the classroom was created for the students of Grade – I.

Students of Grade II and III created their own ‘Happy Snowman’.

Students of Grade IV opened their door to Happiness and stated the things that made them truly happy.

Students of Grades V and VI drew how they felt and expressed their emotions which reflected their state of mind.

Students of Grade VII and VIII thought of words that related peace makers and peace breakers. Indeed this, Jumpstart event helped the learners cultivate the propensity to ask questions related to life, self, personal well-being as well as inquire about the nature of existence.

It helped students to expand their knowledge in philosophical areas.

Christmas Celebration - 2019

Soaking the spirit of Christmas, students of Podar International School, Ratnagiri celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm on 21st December, 2019. This Christmas special assembly celebrated Santa’s favourite colours, as Grade II few students were dressed in red and white. The assembly commenced with melodious carols and students danced beautifully wishing everyone Merry Christmas. The significance of the festival was well explained through the Christmas story which students enacted through a skit. The emotions of faith, joy, peace, share, care were depicted very well through student’s performance.

To inculcate the spirit of sharing, Santa distributed sweets and spread the boundless joy of Christmas, which was visible on the faces of all the children. The rhythmic performance by the school choir, the surprise package by Santa Claus left everyone spellbound with Christmas gratification. Holiday greetings were exchanged and the day was called off with hearty smiles.

Jumpstart Event 'Fun with plants' - 2019

As a part of Thematic Unit – 2 ‘Fun With Plants’, the jumpstart event activity was conducted on 14th December, 2019 at 10:00am. Grade I visited ‘Samarth Exotica’ plant nursery at Shivaji Nagar, Nachane Link Road.

The objective of this event was to get the students engaged in the core theme of the unit.

Students were encouraged to observe their surroundings and especially plants. They have understood how to nurture the plants. This event aroused curiosity in them and they shared their experience through drawing. It was a successful event which captured students’ imagination and hooked them to learn about the upcoming Thematic Unit.

Thematic Unit 'Culminating Event - Lets Celebrate' - 2019

The first thematic unit of Grade I Let’s celebrate culminated with an event showcasing the work done by the students on 7th December 2019. All the students dressed up in festive clothing and were very much excited to celebrate festivals through the activities. At the place of exhibition few festival stations were set up. Students have visited all the stations where they drew rangoli patterns, tasted sweet like sheerkurma and modak, also decorated the Christmas tree and participated in balloon painting. During these two hours students have enjoyed a lot and were full of zest.

Culminating Event 'Design a way - Exploring the Process of Making and Unmaking' - 2019

EVENT- ‘Design Bootcamp’ – Innovate, Create and Showcase

The school-wide theme ‘Design Thinking’ culminated with an event- ‘Design Bootcamp’, organized by the students and staff members of Podar International School within the premises on 30th November,2019.

Students could display their final ‘Design Thinking’ products and ideaswhich they worked on during the sessions, and conveyed their thoughts about their respective creations.

Grades 1 & 2 presented Stationary Organizers,Tiffin Bag, Key chains and so on.

Grades 3 & 4 created habitats for endangered species such as monarch butterflies, polar bears, sea turtles, giraffes etc.…

Grades 5 & 6,worked on some contemporary issues plaguing the world such as bullying, manual scavenging, honking, etc. and came up with a few interesting solutions.

Grades 7 & 8 worked on Design Thinking solutions for Sustainable Goals 2019 such as Gender Equality, Zero Hunger, Quality Education, etc. and presented them very well. students also came up with some of their personal inventions.

This exhibition aimed to encourage children to ‘invent’ and ‘innovate’ without any inhibitions. It was a fruitful event that helped students develop a growth mindset and important problem solving, analytical and spatial thinking skills.

It indeed provided an opportunity to be creators, innovators and problem solvers who can adapt and pivot when necessary to flourish in a rapidly changing world.

Google Doodle - 2019

‘DESIGN-A-WAY’ – Exploring the Process of Making and Unmaking!
House Competition: A ‘DOODLE’ Contest

Under the theme ‘‘DESIGN-A-WAY’ – Exploring the Process of Making and Unmaking!’ students of Podar International School, Ratnagiri got an opportunity to be creators, innovators and problem solvers. In this module the students of Grades III to VIII participated in ‘A Doodle’ competition held on 16th November, 2019 which allowed the students to showcase their imagination.

The students used their creativity to create their own interpretation of the Google logo while making the Doodle that best represented their chosen topic. Students were inspired by themes like Animal Kingdom, Monuments of India, Indian Farmers and Indian Sports. They expressed what inspired them and envisioned future India. Unique and creative uses of the letters, background and foreground could be seen in both the artwork and their written statements. This Competition provided the students with a platform to convey their message creatively through illustrations.

Podar Volunteer Program - 'Donation Drive' - 2019

Giving back to the society is a kind gesture that can heal any wound. Keeping in mind Mahatma Gandhiji’s Principle of losing ‘Self’ in the service of others, ’GIVING BACK’ – A Podar Volunteer Programme was held in the school on Friday 15th November 2019.

The programme offered a variety of volunteering opportunities for the students, ranging from organizing donation drives for various Non Governmental Organizations.

The students of Grades I to VIII participated in the Grade wise donation activities where they provided the toys, books, food, stationery, fruits to the organizations such as, Maher Anathashram, Observation Centre, Ratnagiri and Aashadeep Mental Retired Parent Association, Ratnagiri. Along with the Grade wise activities, the whole school participated in the cereals and pulses donation drive. Through this volunteer work, students extended helping hands, understanding the need to initiate change in our society.

Field Trip to Tilak Memorial - 2019

“Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it”

Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who was the leader of the independence struggle is known as "Father of the Indian unrest" against the British rule. He was born in 1856 in Ratnagiri. Tilak’s birthplace in Ratnagiri has been preserved by the Archaeological Department of the state of Maharashtra and it has been declared as a memorial.

On 9th November, 2019 Podar International School, Ratnagiri organised a field trip to Lokmanya Tilak Memorial at Tilak Aali, Ratnagiri. Students of Grades 3, 4 and 5 visited the memorial.

The pictures and articles helped students recall his enormous contribution to the freedom struggle. His preserved personal stuffignited the spark of patriotism among students.They felt inspired by seeing this memorial.

The visit successfully helped and deepened the connect between our young minds and India’s glorious past.

Children's Day Celebration - 2019

Children’s day – A day marking childhood and the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Podar International School, Ratnagiri celebrated 14th November 2019 with great zeal and fervour.

Children’s Day celebration began with a special welcome to all our dear students which then was followed by the special assembly and commemorated by garlanding the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Immerse joy and enthusiasm could be seen in the school premises. Various activities and events were specially organized and carried out by teachers. The entire assembly was carried out by teachers who also presented a scintillating dance performance and graced the occasion with their melodious singing.

Teachers showcased their talent by dancing on the peppy songs which also made the students to groove in with their facilitators. They shook a leg along. Students were in awe to see their mother-like-teachers in the avatar of kids.

The school Principal, Mr. KirtiKumar Deshmukh appreciated and blessed the children and encouraged them to work diligently and enjoy their childhood a transient phase to optimum. The day was packed with fun filled activities, documentary on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and games organized class wise by the teachers for their dear students.

The icing on the cake was the distribution of Maharashtra’s famous sweet delicacy Coconut Barfi and a gift which brought a sweet smile on everyone’s visage. It was a fun filled day for the Podarites, which would always be cherished as a fond memory.
