‘Design-A-Way’ – Exploring the Process of Making and Unmaking! - 2019

The jumpstart event was carried out on 7th October 2019 at Podar International School, Ratnagiri to immerse the students into the upcoming theme. The activities were designed to surprise the students, capture their imagination and engage them in the upcoming theme from the onset.
Each student had the opportunity to participate in activities like ‘Takeoff Point’. Grade wise activities were conducted right from Grade I to Grade VIII. Students of Grades I & II imagined how they would design a sharpener attached to a pencil and drew the same on the paper.
Students of Grades III and IV described an everyday object in words and discussed about simple objects and how they look.
Students of Grades V and VI came up with multiple uses for different objects. Students of Grades VII and VIII were encouraged to think outside the box, encouraging wild ideas to push students to test their creativity by turning circles into recognizable objects in a very short period of time.
Students of Secondary Grades came with ideas what they would like to invent and sketching their ideas wrote the reasons for the same. Students also expressed as to what new ideas they would like to bring in their school which was then browse through by the leadership team.
This event provided a common platform so that every student has an experience to draw from as they progress through the unit.

Thematic Unit :Jobs- Career Day Grade II (Culminating event) - 2019

As we all know, ‘Joy of Giving’ is an act of giving. Podar International School, Ratnagiri celebrated this joy on 3rd and 4th of October, 2019 with the learners and helped them feel the need of giving, understanding and helping people around us

The aim of the special module – ‘The Joy of Giving’ was to understand the values of Integrity and Empathy. The event was conducted in two days wherein students of all the Grades I to VIII participated actively. Students understood why we shouldn’t let our judgments and pre-conceived notions deter us from forming healthy bonds.
On Day 1 the students from all the Grades I to VIII discussed various situations that require empathetic behaviour. With the help of a worksheet they understood that everyone has a different opinion and different emotions. They imbibed emotions like sympathy, empathy and integrity.
On Day 2 students of Grades I and II will learn to understand the people around them and not treat anyone inferior.
Students of Grades III and IV, with the help of two short stories understood the importance of helping others without boasting about it. Students of Grades IV to VIII, evaluated themselves and analyzed if they are empathic and honest. They made a small gift for their partners to showcase an act of complimenting and gratitude.
Thus students learnt that ‘Giving need not be always be in the form of gifts, it could be about being empathic, kind, helpful and being appreciative of the people around us.’

Dandiya Evening - 2019

Navratri not only symbolizes the victory of good over evil but also celebrates the spirit of Indian culture in its togetherness.
Podar International School, Ratnagiri celebrated Navratri by organizing a Dandiya Utsav in the school premises on 1st Oct 2019.
The school premises echoed with folk songs. Bright colourful dresses, traditional ethnic outfit was a real delight to watch.
Our revered Principal addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of Navratri.
Dancing to the tunes of folk songs, students and parents gave sense to every emotion with their striking postures and movements. The hypnotic formations, captivated the watchers from their heart leaving them wanting for more.
It was indeed an exuberant and sizzling night.
The event was a great success under the guidance of Principal, efforts of teachers and staff members and enthusiastic participation of students and their parents

Hindi Diwas Celebration - 2019

EKTA KI JAAN HAI, HINDI DESH KI SHAAN HAI.
In order to pay honour and pass the significance of Hindi language,to the next generation, Hindi Diwas was celebrated with great fervourin PIS,Ratnagiri on the 14th Sept by organizing special assembly with a lots of recreational activity.
The ‘Thought of the Day’highlighted the importance of this day.It stated that ‘Hindi’ is our national language which we must respect and be proud of. The ‘KavyaNatika’ presented by students of Grades I to VIII helped the students understand that ‘Hindi’ plays a key role in uniting the diverse India and hence is also called as a ‘link language’. It spoke about unity, brotherhood and pride.The teacher’s talk emphasized on therole Hindiplays in nation building, and stated its importance in modern India. Some of the highlighting activities conducted were group and solo songs, word chain, pot decorations, Hindi poem recitation wall painting, slogan writing and so on. All the students of various classes participated actively in various activities.
It was indeed a fruitful day, where students explored their knowledge of Hindi language with different hues and flavours.

Teacher's Day Celebration - 2019

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge”
Podar International School, Ratnagiri celebrated with great gusto on 9th September 2019. Marking the birth Anniversary of Dr. SarvepalliRadhaKrishnan – a great academic philosopher, scholar, the second president of India and above all a teacher.
The entire programme was planned and executed by students. It commenced with a ‘Shlok’ that denoted their love and respect for their beloved teachers.
Students welcomed the teachers and all faculty members with badges and greeting cards.
Light is a symbol of brightness and prosperity, which was symbolised kindling the lamp of knowledge and wisdom.
Students performed a scintillating cultural show to pay their respect and recognise the hard work put in by the teachers. The cultural show incorporated group song, dances and speech that showed reverence for all teachers beautifully. They also entertained teachers by arranging fun games for them. Gratifying the selfless service and commitment of our admirable Principal, a token of appreciation and love was presented to them by the Head Boy and Head Girl of the school.
The programme concluded with Principal’s address. He extended his heartiest thanks to all students on behalf of the staff. He appreciated their efforts and successful coordination. The entire faculty members were overwhelmed by the love shown by the students.
All the teachers enjoyed and appreciated the programme.

Ganesha Chaturthi Celebration - 2019

The rich and vibrant festivals of India are testimony of our diverse culture and rich tradition.


A special assembly on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthiwas conducted byPodar International School, Ratnagiri on 31st August 2019 with great participation and enthusiasm. The assembly commenced with a melodious invocation of shlok which was followed by the Ganesh sthapana. The hymnsof ‘Ganesh Aarti’invoked the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

Students presented a skit narrating the story on Lord Ganesha cursing the moon. The teacher’s talk highlighted the importance of this festival and narrated the story of how Ganesha, the son of Parvati, acquired his elephant head. The audience listened in rapt attention. Students celebrated this auspicious occasion with a rhythmic group dance.

The assembly concluded with the sounds of exciting drum beats and the visarjan of Lord Ganesh, thus immersing the holy idol in water and pleading to the lord to return the next year. The chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya,Pudchya Varshi Laukar Ya...” enveloped the entire atmosphere into a festive mood.

Students understood the importance of this festive occasion which united them all, in the colours of prosperity, good beginnings and peace.

Dental Check Up Camp - 2019

A better life starts with a beautiful smile

A dental checkup camp was held at Podar International School, Ratnagiri on August 29th and 30th 2019. A team of dentists from Ortho Dental Clinic, Dr. Mayur Kamble and Dr. Priyanka Kamble came for the dental checkup of students of classes Nursery to Grade VIII.

The doctors were well equipped with examination tools to examine them. They spoke to the students about the importance of oral and dental care. The students were further briefed about how to avoid tooth ache related problems.

Necessary medical advice and precautionary measures were given to the students. The camp turned out to be very beneficial for the students. ‘With a smile on their face, they let their teeth breathe, because every child deserves to smile’.

Literature circle 'Day 1 & 2' - 2019

Special feature Literature Circle was conducted in Podar International School, Ratnagiri on 26th August and 27th August 2019. The objective of this Activity was to inculcate the importance of reading books by making it fun for the readers.

The students of Grade I to VIII were given different stories to read such as: The Lion who wouldn't try; The great cake contest, The Thief by Ruskin Bond, The Cabuliwallah, etc.

Each story involved different activities which were segregated into two days namely Word Wizard, Wordle, Character Buddy, Discussion Director, Fish bowl activity, Role Predictor, Word Worms, Investigative Illustrator, Character Captain, etc.

Students enjoyed reading the stories in a collaborative ways. It also developed their critical thinking.

It was indeed a great experience for the students to improve their vocabulary, communication skills and add creativity to their knowledge.

Janmashtami Celebration - 2019

The students of Podar International School, Ratnagiri celebrated Janmashtami on 24th August 2019.

A special assembly showcased a skit highlighting the birth of Lord Krishna which was enacted by the students of Grade of VII and VIII. It illustrated the fact that whenever violence would reach its peak, there will be an 'Avtaar' to culminate the evil deeds.

The scintillating dance performance represented his 'Leelas' and depicted the importance of the occasion.

Girls from Grade II were decked up as Radhas and boys as from Grade I as Sri Krishna.

With their laudable performance, they lighted up the stage and mesmerized the audience.

The teacher's article presented the idea behind celebration that is to observe the victory of good over evil and to bring people together so that principles of unity strengthen.

Students not only celebrated Janmashtami with great zeal but also comprehended the real essence of their celebration; wishing ever one love, peace and prosperity.
