At Podar International School, Mangalore, a Thematic Learning event was organized on 09/03/2024. The event, aimed at fostering holistic development, brought together students, teachers, and parents in an enriching educational experience. Subjects such as EVS, Physical Education, Integrated English, Music, and Art were intricately woven into the curriculum to create a multidimensional learning environment. Students enthusiastically embraced the theme by dressing up as travelers and tour guides. The Culminating Event was a vibrant showcase of talents, featuring action songs, group dances, skits, demonstration of yoga, tongue twisters, and fascinating facts about different places. The collaborative spirit of the event extended beyond the classroom, as parents joined in the festivities, celebrating their children's achievements and participation in a joyful atmosphere.
Podar International School, Mangalore, as part of the Girls Welfare Committee and Boys Welfare Committee organised a session on 07/03/2024. The resource person, Principal Mr. Girish Kumar discussed the Book by Stephen Covey, ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’. The 7 habits were dealt with in detail and how it can be practically applied by the students was explained. An activity was done in groups which provided a transformative guide for personal and professional success. Emphasis was given on proactive thinking, prioritization, effective communication and collaboration. The session threw light on the fact that one can build personality by altering one’s habits.
Podar International School Mangalore, conducted a Podar Volunteer Program on 29 February 2024. To instill a sense of empathy and social responsibility in our students, a Donation Drive for the “Children’s Orphanage - Bala Samrakshana Kendra’, Kuttar is organised every month. The centre was visited by council members. Students from each class contribute to this noble cause by bringing specific materials or items designated to their respective classes. This being the last visit to the orphanage for this academic year, collection from IE events conducted by the school was also utilised to buy essential items which included a wet grinder, cooker, cloth stand etc.. as per the requirement of the orphanage.
Podar International School Mangalore, organized an ART EXHIBITION - Art In Focus and a SCIENCE FAIR -Imprints, Mathematical Marvels, Code-A-Thon, on 28 February 2024.
Chief guest Mr. Harisha Shetty (Principal, KPT, Mangalore ) encouraged students giving a patient ear to the demonstrations presented by them. He even gave a few inputs of his own which was a great motivation for the students. Talent, creativity and a lot of hard work were on display by students who presented working models of Robotic arm, Sensor parking area, Water purifier, Hydraulic lifter, Homemade battery, Sensor glasses and several other interesting items. Art works of students were also on display. Parents who visited the exhibition appreciated the efforts put in.
Podar International School Mangalore, organized the culminating event ‘Parivartan Drive', under the IE theme ‘Significant People’- The Event and Characters that changed the World’ on 23 February 2024. Students presented a street play 'Be The Change To Be Change’ to create awareness on spreading kindness and acceptance and the importance of following traffic rules. It was organised at 3 different venues- Lalbagh, Kottara Chowki and Kavoor Junction. Students accompanied by their parents gathered and encouraged the performing students at the different sites. In their feedback, Traffic Police Vishwanath (Kavoor), Traffic Police Kanthappa (Kottara Chowki), Senior citizens and parents (Kavoor Junction) lauded the students' performance and messages conveyed by them.
Podar International School Mangalore celebrated International Mother Language Day on 21 February 2024, with the aim to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism.
A special assembly was conducted to acknowledge the fact that ‘Language’ forms the foundation block in communication. It is important to respect, acknowledge and understand each other's language to effectively communicate. Accordingly, teachers and students presented a skit, speech and songs to convey the same message. A language exhibition in the form of charts, models and games was organised which showcased different aspects of various languages. It was a treat for both teachers and students alike.
Podar International School Mangalore conducted a special Assembly on 20 February 2024 to observe the World Day of Social Justice. It is an international day recognizing the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights, and other social issues. Principal Mr. Girish Kumar in his address, stressed on two important areas where injustice is brazenly seen - gender inequality and child labour. He urged the students as educated and responsible persons to discourage any such practice seen in society. The event helped create awareness among the students on this important issue.
Podar International School Mangalore conducted its 6th Annual Sports meet- 'Udaan' on 17 February 2024. The day started with the welcoming and introduction of the Chief Guest, Inspector Khushboo Singh (Reserve Inspector, CISF Unit NMPA, Mangalore). This was followed by flag hoisting and the Inter-House March Past, a highly competitive event where the four houses vied for first place. The torch was carried and lit by outstanding athletes. The oath was taken by the sports captains of the four houses. The Chief Guest and the Principal in their address to the gathering stressed on the importance of sports in our curriculum and how sports in turn instills discipline in students.
The audience next witnessed various drill displays using dumbells, hoops, pom poms, and lezims which showcased flexibility and synchronization among the students. The displays made way for the highly awaited athletic events where competitiveness among the students soared through the roof.
The winners were rewarded with medals and certificates and congratulated for their victory. The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the enthusiastic young sports stars. The day ended with the delivery of the vote of thanks. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
Podar International School, Mangalore organized a heartfelt ‘Farewell function’ to bid adieu to the outgoing 10th standard students on 20 January 2024. The venue was adorned with vibrant decorations, creating a festive atmosphere for the students to cherish their final moments in the school. The farewell function commenced with a warm welcome, a prayer and then various cultural performances by the juniors added color and vibrancy to the event.
One of the highlights of the farewell function was the heartwarming speeches given by the principal, teachers and students. Teachers shared anecdotes, praised the students for their accomplishments, and imparted words of wisdom for their future endeavors. Students, in turn, expressed their gratitude to the school, teaching and non-teaching staff for their support and guidance. Students were given mementos by the Principal.
As the event drew to a close, a sentiment of bittersweet emotions lingered in the air. The students were bid farewell with a mix of joy and sadness as they embark on a new chapter in their lives. The farewell function served as a poignant reminder to the outgoing batch of the shared memories, friendships, and experiences that shaped their school years.
Podar International School Mangalore, under the IE-Theme: ‘MYTH BUSTERS’ culminated in Myths & Legends - ‘Believe It or Not! The module on ‘MYTHBUSTERS’ aimed at educating students on the concept of Myths and Legends, understanding the relevance of myths and legends in exploring the history, traditions, beliefs & customs of various communities and countries across the world.
Various activities were organised like, ‘Characters come alive’ for students of Grade 1 & 2, a’ Fashion Show’, wherein boys and the girls of Grade 3 & 4 walked on the ramp like royal princes and the princess. Characters from popular fairy tales like Goldilocks, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Prince, Super Heroes like - Batman, Spiderman, Hulk, Thor and so on was brought to life by students of Grade 5&6, ‘Knit a Skit’ and ‘A Myths and Legends Quiz’ was conducted for students of Grade 7&8.
The focus of the theme - ‘Significant People- Characters and Events that Changed the World’ is to empower the students to understand the talents /skills/ qualities/ philosophies of the significant people of the world and see how students can explore their own qualities, enhance them and become significant in the future. The main aim of the Jumpstart activity is to build excitement and interest among the students about the upcoming theme, ‘Significant People’ and to create opportunities for the students to express their feelings and thoughts in the school.
Grade 1 to 3 participated in the activity named I AM GOOD AT...... where they wrote their strongest talent/ skill that they have which can make them significant in future.
Grade 4 to 5 Participated in the activity MY STAR QUALITIES, The activity will encourage the students to think about their own different skills and qualities.

Halloween is a fun day observed in various parts of the world on 31st October every year With the same festive spirit, the Podar International School Mangalore geared up to celebrate this day on 31 October 2023 as a part of IE events.
The students came dressed in various outfits to mark the welcoming of good spirits and driving away bad spirits .It was organised by Terra house students to learn, enjoy, encourage to appreciate differences in culture and customs and also to make them aware of global festivals and their values.
Students performed as ghosts and vampires on stage in their attires during the school assembly. Students displayed a lot of Halloween theme items on the background.
There was much excitement all around. The assembly ended on a happy note.
Podar International School, Mangalore explored the magical imagination in our students of Grade 1 to Grade 8 through various Jumpstart activities on 25/10/2023 under the theme "MYTHBUSTERS- Uncovering Myths, Fairy Tales and Legends Engraved in Time". Grade 1 and 2, expressed their favourite fairy tail through the activity "MY FAVOURITE FAIRY TALE" .Grade 3 and 4 involved in the activity by speaking about their lucky thing through the activity *"MY LUCKY THING". Grade 5 involved and expressed in the activity "IF I HAD A MAGIC WAND" the things to change. Grade 6, 7 and 8, explored their imagination through the activity "WRITE A WORD FOR THE MAGICAL CREATURES FROM HARRY POTTER" Students were encouraged by the teachers to bring out more ideas and creativity. All of them participated enthusiastically.
Students of Podar International School Mangalore had the amazing opportunity to visit NITK Surathkal on 13/10/2023. They had the chance to attend an open house of their labs and it was mind-blowing. They explored the bio gas plant, where they convert organic waste into renewable energy. It was fascinating to see their sustainable practices in action, which highlighted the importance of environmental conservation."

Podar International School Mangalore, celebrated –NAVARATHRI by organising a Dandiya Night on 13 October 2023. Dussera is celebrated to symbolize the triumph of good over evil.
The celebration started by offering prayers to Goddess Navdurga. Briefing was given on the significance of the festival of nine nights- ‘Navaratri’. Students along with their parents joined the festival of nine nights dressed up in colourful traditional attire. A few games were organised. Later the crowd swayed to the beats and rhythm of the music of Dandiya. The enthusiasm and frenzy was infectious. While some grooved on the music, others were seen relishing the refreshments.
The Garba celebration was a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, with people of all backgrounds, ages coming together to dance, enjoy music, savor delicious food, take memorable selfies, and partake in fun activities. This annual event continues to be a celebration of culture, diversity, and the joy of Navratri, creating unforgettable memories for all who attend.
Podar International School Mangalore, on 2 October 2023, paid homage to the father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and the 2nd Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri. Respect was paid to Bapuji through bhajans by the teachers. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, the Principal in his message highlighted the principles of Gandhi which holds true even today; The principles of truth, non-violence and cleanliness. He also stressed on the importance of farmers in our nation, which was conveyed through the slogan of Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri, ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan'.
In keeping with the theme of 2023, ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath”, which calls for a national effort where citizens are encouraged to participate in one hour of voluntary labour for cleanliness, the school undertook a cleaning-drive in and around its surroundings.
On the date of September 29, 2023, Podar International School in Mangalore organized a Thematic Culminating Event centered around the theme "MARVELLOUS ME." It's wonderful to hear about the unique program organized by Pranic Healing Kadri at Podar International School Mangalore for the students of Grade 1 to 10 on August 19, 2023. The event titled "HOUR PEACE" Meditation and Super Healing sounds like a beneficial experience for the students.
Led by Ms. Laxmi, the team head, the session included various exercises aimed at preparing the students for the "hour peace" meditation. It's intriguing to learn that this session was also conducted across Karnataka on the same day. The meditation itself lasted for about 20 minutes, yet it managed to leave a significant impact on the students who participated. It's always great to see events that promote mindfulness and well-being among students.
Ms. Sushmitha and Ms. Mamatha's coordination of the session likely contributed to its smooth execution and effectiveness.
Podar International School Mangalore, celebrated the 77th Independence day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on 15 August 2023. The school campus was beautifully adorned with flags and decorations of the tri-colour. The program began with the welcoming and felicitation of the honorable Chief Guest, Sri.Devdas Pai, by the Principal Mr. Girish Kumar. Sri.Devdas Pai is an Air Force Personnel, who has served the Indian Air Force for more than 20 years. The National Flag was hoisted and the National Anthem was sung with true patriotism.
To add colour to the event, patriotic dances and a skit was presented by the students, through which was shared the message of 'What is Patriotism'. The event also marked the release of the first edition of the school Newsletter, 'Campus Roots' for the Academic Year 2023-24.
The Chief Guest in his very valuable and inspiring message shared the importance and need to build a good character and practice good values. He urged the students to excel in whichever field they are in, saying no job is inferior or superior, but added that every job has its own value and each person is needed for the smooth functioning of any society. So one should have dignity and pride in whatever one does. The Principal in his speech added to these thoughts. The program concluded with the delivery of the vote of thanks and distribution of sweets.
Podar International School, Mangalore, celebrated World Environment Day as a ‘No-Bag day’- A day without school bags or books on 05/06/2023.
Students were involved in activities like an Eco-Friendly Fancy Dress Competition for Grades I to V, and an Inter-House Soft Board Decoration Competition for Grade I to IX.
Students took a break from regular school work and thoroughly enjoyed the various sessions on Good touch and Bad touch, Hand wash, Preparation of Seed Ball, Zumba, Adolescent development, Vegetable Printing, Planting saplings, Puppet Making and a Quality Circle Time.
Definitely a welcome break which kept the students happily engaged throughout the day and they surely look forward to having ‘No-Bag days’ more often.
